MORFAR Strategies, Inc. is not a fund. Rather, it is best described as an “opportunity-based” investment, ownership and management organization that seeks to match the financial resources of high net worth individuals and platform investors with unique and aligned business opportunities.
What makes us different is our insistence upon direct management and corporate involvement in a target company. We embrace an investment philosophy that is principled on a defined set of strict, underlying business characteristics and standards that each investment must possess. We take the approach that fewer, well-managed and financed undertakings have a far greater opportunity for future success than hoping that many investments will yield one big winner.
With MORFAR, an investor in a particular transaction is truly a partner. We look to match the personal financial wealth and professional experiences of an individual with each particular investment by seeking their involvement in Board or advisory positions. As well, we seek to align certain investors that own or control existing operating companies in investments that may someday be beneficial to their own acquisition or growth strategies, building an “enterprise web” of sorts. At times, certain investors may simply look to diversify their investment portfolio, in which case we will seek their involvement in oversight committees or other strategic matters. In short, when an investor participates, we like to think that our “bench strength” has improved.
Although a typical investment transaction does not have a defined time horizon for exit, we believe that architecting or planning for an appropriate institutional exit at the onset of capitalization is vital. This strategy forces a company to focus on important qualities and measurements that are utilized by the industry or sector in which they operate and develops performance standards that the company must strive to achieve. Since we seek only “Accelerator Stage” businesses in which to invest, these businesses will already possess certain of the key financial and operating characteristics that are important to an institutional buyer or investor, thus our involvement is intended to refine specific operating attributes and package a business for value optimization.
